The archaeological remains of Somapura Mahavihara; one of the famous
Buddhist monasteries of Early Medieval period, is situated in the village of
Paharpur (25°1´51.48´´N and 88°58´37.03´´E) of Badalgachi upazila under
Naogaon District (Fig. 1) in northwest Bangladesh, 5 km west of Jamalganj
Railway Station, 14 km south of Jaypurhat, and 34 km north of Naogaon town.
